  • Large wildfires impact on regional weather and climate (such as 2015 extreme drought in California) and their feedback have been becoming an interesting topic. Dr. William Sommers, a research professor at GENRI and ESTC, was interviewed by Chris Mooney from the Washington Post. An article entitled "The really scary thing about wildfires is how they can worsen climate change" was released on the energy and environment session. More detailed information can be obtained from following web site. http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/energy-environment/wp/2015/05/14/how-massive-wildfires-can-actually-warm-the-planet/
